V.I.P. Vertical Takes Off!

It’s been a long time coming but I’m pleased to announce it’s finally here...

By Luke Lowrey

As this first ever issue of V.I.P. Vertical hits the web and your email inbox, you may be wondering why it’s taken so long to show up.  But be prepared, because you just may never know the full extent of excitement and drama that has unfolded over the past few weeks, just to keep this website open...

When I sat down and created the vision for this new website, it was based around bringing the best of information -- real and truthful information -- for increasing vertical jump to the world and anyone who cared to listen.  It was about doing it for people just like you, people who have been given sub-par information for years on end and are literally starving for the truth.

You know what I mean when I say “starving”, don you?  It’s the reason you’re reading this -- because very few out there have ever been privy to outstanding vertical leap results from their training programs and it’s my guess you want to join this elite company.

But the distinction between wanting to bring the best information forth and the reality of actually doing this is another matter entirely.  Sometimes in our lives other things “just happen” and our plans are changed, either for better or for worse and either by choice or chance.

Despite what you might be starting to think, we’re not closing the website.  I said above that the site will be staying open.  This is a story about something else.

The New Year came around and, as always, it was a time for rejuvenation, for looking forward, for making new starts and for re-affirming your path and your position in life.

It is the ideal time for a change, regardless of whether these changes are decided by choice or chance. For me, as well, the first few months of this New Year have been a time of great change -- changes that have been forced by chance, not by choice.

Often, these changes are the most difficult of all because they are forced upon us, regardless of our own will or desire.  Sometimes the changes we can make by choice, will prevent the changes that occur by chance.  Sometimes they won’t.

On December 15, I found out that my father had been diagnosed with bowel cancer.  And while a lot of people are struck down with the disease, and many still die from it, it appears as though he will be able to make it.  Over the Christmas period my family and myself were able to digest this and work out exactly what needed to happen and how he needs to be treated.

These things are always difficult to deal with and they always confront us with the reality of our own mortality and the fragility of life on this planet.  But I’m not telling you this to gain your sympathy.  Rather, I’m illustrating three important points, two that relate to V.I.P. Vertical and a third that honestly is a bit of a “diamond in the rough”:

1)    Because of this occurrence, I believe that the time I will be able to spend working on V.I.P. Vertical will need to be reduced.  As I’m not the type to commit to something half-heartedly, I would rather be up-front about it.  Let me make it certain right now, this only affects the volume and depth of work I am able to publish in V.I.P. Vertical - it does not affect The ULTIMATE Vertical Leap SUPER PACKAGE, because that is in a ready-to-use downloaded format and is already complete.

2)    This gives you an opportunity!  Because I won’t be able to write and produce as much content for this regular newsletter, I’m asking that you contribute to V.I.P. Vertical, too!  This is a fantastic opportunity to be heard, as this newsletter gets pumped out to over 20,000 people all around the world!

3)    And finally, the “diamond in the rough”:  Our lives are fragile and our time is limited.  You may not know this from your own experiences, but eventually one day it will catch up with you.  Even over the Christmas break, with the horror of the Asian tsunami, you can see just how lucky we all are to be alive, well, safe and under a roof.  So my diamond is this:

Make the changes in your life by choice,

while you still have the time opportunity to do so and

before changes are made for you by chance.

Don’t wait.

Believe me, before you know it, your time will be up.

With that said, I bring you the first issue of V.I.P. Vertical.  It is shorter than first planned, but it is condensed with only the best information.  No fluff.

First up, we have a fantastic feature article by Mark Sias of Bionic Plyometrics, titled “Isometrics On A Rope”.   He reveals some really juicy secrets about isometric training, and throws in some gems that break a lot of old myths people still think help to increase your jumping ability.  Honestly, the article is so good, he could put it into report format and sell it for $20!

Also, make sure you check out our research section, where science decides to jump on my bandwagon regarding stability training.   And you won’t want to miss out on this issue’s “The Horse’s Mouth” where I really dissect the difference between muscular and neurological performance and how some fundamental differences in understanding affect your vertical.  It’s an in-depth article that’ll be sure to change the way you train for vertical leap increases.

As I’ve said from the start, I want this publication to be about the athletes themselves.  So I need to hear from you and get your feedback on the matter.  To contribute to V.I.P. Vertical, make sure you email us on:

I have also committed to writing a blog, which I will post every now and then and it will detail various ideas, training notes and stories (funny and serious) from my clients and training team.  It should be a good, fairly random, read.

Thanks for hearing me out and enjoy our first issue.  I look forward to your feedback!
